Signature Threads | WordPress to InkSoft Migration & SEO Preservation
Custom Screen Printing & Embroidery·InkSoft
Overview
Signature Threads is the go-to source for screen printing and embroidery in Fort Myers and Southwest Florida - serving schools, businesses, non-profits, fundraisers and individuals. The site ran for over a decade as a WordPress hybrid - a WordPress main site paired with separate InkSoft storefronts for individual clients. In 2026 the entire site moved fully onto InkSoft, retiring WordPress altogether while preserving over ten years of earned search visibility through the switch.
Before any content moved, Google Search Console performance and coverage data was pulled to identify exactly which legacy pages were carrying real traffic and rankings, separating them from years of accumulated low-value and orphaned content. That analysis became a prioritized redirect map - built around actual search performance rather than a blanket approach - implemented around real constraints in InkSoft's own redirect tooling. Meta titles, descriptions, and focus keywords were rebuilt using real customer search query data rather than assumptions, and the Home, About Us, and Portfolio pages were redeveloped natively inside InkSoft's widget-based page builder, including custom HTML layouts built to work within the builder's limitations.
The 'Specialty Stores' menu leads to a growing network of separate, fully-branded InkSoft storefronts built and managed by CMR Web Development for Signature Threads' individual clients - including a new 16-product store with product customization options built for an additional partner organization. The client's domain was also transferred to her own registrar account, with DNS reconfigured across the main site and every specialty store.

The migration started with data, not design. Google Search Console's Performance and Coverage reports were exported and reviewed page by page to separate real, traffic-earning URLs from over a decade of accumulated low-value and orphaned content - old demo blog posts, tag and category archives, and pages with effectively zero search visibility. The result was a redirect map prioritized by actual clicks and impressions rather than an indiscriminate redirect-everything approach, implemented around a real platform constraint: InkSoft's own redirect tool blocks certain protected internal paths, which shaped how the remaining legacy URLs were handled.
On-page SEO was rebuilt using the same query data - meta titles, descriptions, and focus keywords aligned to what customers were actually searching for rather than generic industry terms. Core pages were redeveloped natively inside InkSoft's widget-based page builder, including custom HTML/CSS layouts (like a logo-beside-copy layout on the About page) built to survive the builder's own HTML sanitizer, and a workaround to trigger InkSoft's JavaScript-driven contact form from static page content.
The 'Specialty Stores' network continues to grow under the new architecture - each store fully branded per client, with a new 16-product store built for an additional partner organization, including live product customization options. The engagement closed out with full ownership handoff: the domain transferred to the client's own registrar account, with DNS reconfigured across the main site and every specialty store.
